Elective admission to hospital
An elective admission is where a patient has been booked in to be admitted to hospital rather than coming in as an emergency. The booking is usually made after the patient sees a hospital specialist in an outpatient clinic. The patient will then be placed on a waiting list until it is their turn to be admitted.
