Correction of squint
Corrective squint surgery is usually carried out as an outpatient or day case under general anaesthetic. The ophthalmologist detaches one part of a muscle connected to the eye and either moves it backwards to weaken the pulling effect or shortens it to increase the pulling effect. The muscles are sewn back in place with dissolvable stitches.
