Bunion removal

A bunion is an enlargement of bone or tissue around the joint either of the big toe or on the outside of the foot at the base of the little toe. Bunions may be caused by wearing shoes that push the toes together, which puts pressure on the joint. Alternatively they can be an inherited foot structure problem. The surgeon may cut the bone and move it to its proper position, remove the enlarged portion of the bone, or even reconstruct the joint using an artificial prosthesis if it is damaged beyond repair.
