Statins
Statins are drugs that reduce the amount of cholesterol produced by cells all over our body. They are used to reduce the levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL), or bad cholesterol, because high levels can lead to the build up of fat in your arteries and lead to coronary heart disease or stroke. Statins are used in healthy people who are at high-risk of heart disease and are also used in people who have already had a heart attack or stroke to prevent recurrence.
