Nateglinide and repaglinide

Nateglinide and repaglinide work in a similar way to sulphonylurea drugs, but they are not usually prescribed for diabetes. They boost insulin levels very quickly, but the effect of each dose does not last very long. They are taken shortly before main meals and should not be taken in the case of missing a meal. Side-effects are similar to sulphonylurea drugs.
