Nurse specialist (SN)

A nurse specialist (SN) specialises in a specific area of nursing. They may have particular expertise in caring for patients suffering from diseases such as cancer, diabetes, Parkinson's, HIV, or chronic heart failure. An SN provides direct patient care and support and can play a vital role in improving quality of life by educating the patient on the management and control of symptoms and offering support following diagnosis. The intervention or employment of an SN can reduce the amount of hospital admissions required.
