Community based midwifery

Community midwifery units are a popular option for women going through uncomplicated pregnancies, who may not feel comfortable giving birth in hospital or at home. You may be offered a slightly longer postnatal stay in a community maternity unit than in hospital. If your baby has been born in hospital, you may be able to transfer to a community unit for a few days afterwards.
