Caseload midwifery/DOMINO system
The DOMINO (Domiciliary In and Out) system is where you can have the same midwife looking after you throughout your pregnancy.
Under the DOMINO system, a midwife from a community-based team will stay with you at home while you are in labour and will travel with you to hospital to deliver your baby and then return home with you, usually about six hours after the birth.
If you have a home birth, the midwife will deliver your baby at home. You will continue to receive care from your midwife for 10 to 28 days, depending on your needs.
DOMINO does not operate in all areas of the UK.
