Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the systematic use of essential oils in holistic treatments to improve physical and emotional well-being. Essential oils, extracted from plants, are believed to possess distinctive therapeutic properties. These natural plant oils are applied by massage, in a bath or by inhalation (not for asthmatics). Not all aromatherapy oils are safe for use in pregnancy, however, so only a qualified practitioner should treat expectant mothers. Alternative practitioners are listed in the Complementary and Alternative Medicine directory.
