Pneumonia is a viral or bacterial infection in the lungs which causes the air sacs and bronchial tubes to become inflamed and fill with fluid. When lungs are inflamed and infected it makes it difficult for the body to get enough oxygen and a patient is at risk of becoming seriously ill.
