University College London Hospital is a hyper acute stroke unit serving a large proportion of London’s population. Under this model we are the first point of care in the patient pathway providing immediate and highly specialised emergency treatment before sending patients to more local units for step down care, prior to discharge home. The metric includes patients who complete their treatment at UCLH and patients who are transferred to other hospitals for step down care. Patients who complete their treatment at UCLH, do not experience a low rate of being discharged home within 56 days. The higher than expected rate of patients who are not discharged home within 56 days occurs among patients transferred to other hospitals after their initial treatment.Stroke - length of stay

Last year, Dr Foster reported a higher rate than expected for grade 3 and 4 obstetric lacerations. Following a rigorous patient level review of every event, we found that the data included minor lacerations also. When we analysed the trust performance for actual grade 3 and 4 lacerations we returned a lower rate than the mean, which confirmed our view that we offer safe, high quality clinical support for mothers.
