The Mid Yorkshire trust experienced difficulties with patients having fractured neck of femur receiving surgery within 2 days of admission during 2010/11. In March 2011 a new hospital was opened on the Pinderfields site which facilitated centralised admissions for trauma and implementation of a new pathway for patients with femoral neck fractures. We can now report that internal monitoring during September and October 2011 showed that 83% of patients were taken to theatre within 2 days (71% were taken to theatre within 36 hours and 48% within 24 hours). This data now compares favourably with the Dr Foster target of 70% of patients receiving surgery within 2 days.Hip fracture - length of stay

23.0000The trust says...
The Mid Yorkshire trust is reported as having performed 23 aortic aneurysm repairs in the financial year 2010/11. The trust believes it has performed substantially more than this; our theatre records show that we performed 26 open operations and that 18 patients in addition were treated by the insertion of a stent in the radiology department which we do not believe are counted in the Dr Foster methodology. The use of stents to treat aortic aneurysm is a relatively new technique which reduces post operative recovery time and operative risks when used in appropriate patients.Deaths following repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms
This compares the actual number of deaths in a trust against the expected number for patients who had an abdominal aortic aneurysm repaired
