The New Victoria Hospital
Address & description

The New Victoria Hospital founded in 1958 to replace the Victoria Hospital founded in 1898 and nationalised in 1948, is an acute medical surgical hospital located in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. The hospital offers a wide range of both inpatient and outpatient specialities and was the first hospital in England to achieve what was then ISO 9001 Quality Assurance accreditation. Particular attention has continued to be paid to this aspect of the hospital and it has consistently achieved high results in all audits and inspections.
The New Victoria Hospital is one of only a handful of independently owned hospitals remaining in the country and its results both financial and in terms of Clinical Governance go from strength to strength each year. The hospital is shortly to embark on a major expansion which will double the number of consulting rooms to twelve and increase operating theatres to four, as well as providing a high dependency unit and additional beds.
The hospital's facilities include a recently completed Imaging Department with MRI scanning, 16 slice CT scanning, ultrasound, digital fluoroscopy, mammography and bone densitometry. It also offers colposcopy and laser, lithotripsy and has an on site pathology laboratory as well as a fully equipped physiotherapy department offering various special clinics some of which take place in the well equipped gymnasium. The New Victoria Hospital is a BUPA Approved Breast Cancer Unit and a BUPA Approved Bowel Cancer Unit and is recognised by all of the major insurance companies. The Chief Executive who has been in post for 25 years is by far the longest serving Chief Executive Officer in the independent hospital sector. He as well as the Finance Director plays a major role in representing the sector in dealing with government and other organisations within the orbit of the Independent Healthcare Forum.
