Spire Southampton Hospital

Spire Hospital Southampton is a fairly large private hospital, with 78 beds, four major operating theatres, and one minor operating theatre. The major operating theatres all have laminar flow - this is a special clean air system which reduces the risk of infection during operations. The hospital is able to perform heart bypass, and also offers cardiac catheterisation, exercise ECG and coronary angioplasty. It does not, however, offer cardiac rehabilitation. The hospital is able to perform surgery for breast and bowel cancer, and both units are BUPA-approved. Surgery for three to 12 year olds is offered, and there are always at least two members of staff on duty with Advanced Paediatric Life Support training.
