Spire South Bank Hospital in Worcester is a 41-bedded private hospital, with three operating theatres. Two of these are major operating theatres, one minor. Of the major, one has laminar flow. This is a special clean air system which reduces the risk of infection during operations. It is particularly useful during orthopaedic procedures. Although the hospital does not perform surgery on children under three years of age, it is able to undertake procedures on children between three and 12. When children are in the hospital, there are always at least two Advanced Paediatric Life Support trained staff on site at any time - this means that there is coverage in the event of an emergency. Physiotherapy services are available, with specialist sports injury treatment offered. Hydrotherapy can be offered off site, and there is also a gymnasium for rehabilitation purposes. The hospital is able to undertake surgery to treat breast and bowel cancer. The bowel cancer unit has BUPA accreditation.
