The Woking Nuffield Hospital has 47 beds. Two of these are critical care, and there is always at least one member of staff on site with current Advanced Life Support training. There are three operating theatres at the hospital - two major, and one minor. Both major theatres are equipped with laminar flow, a clean air system which reduces the risk of infection during operations. Surgical services are offered for both breast and bowel cancer, though only the bowel cancer unit is BUPA-approved at present. The hospital can perform mammography - a test which helps to diagnose breast cancer. Other diagnostic services include x-ray, ultrasound and bone densitometry. The last helps to diagnose conditions such as osteoporosis. Although the hospital does not operate on children under the age of three, it is able to operate on children aged between three and twelve. Again, there is always at least one member of staff on site with Paediatric Advanced Life Support training.
