Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital

The Plymouth Nuffield Hospital has 41 beds, and four operating theatres. Two of these are minor theatres, and two are major theatres. Of the major theatres, one has laminar flow - this is a special clean air system which reduces the risk of infection during operations. It is particularly useful for orthopaedic procedures. The hospital is able to perform surgery for both breast and bowel cancer, but only the bowel cancer service is BUPA-approved. Chemotherapy is also available to treat the disease.

Although Plymouth Nuffield does not perform surgery on children under three years of age, it is able to operate on youngsters between three and twelve years old. There are always at least two members of staff on site with Paediatric Advanced Life Support training, which means there is support in the event of an emergency. Complementary therapies are available at the hospital - acupuncture and aromatherapy are both offered. The hospital has physiotherapy services, and can offer special treatment for patients suffering from sports injury. Hydrotherapy is available.
