Nuffield Health Ipswich Hospital
Address & description

Nuffield Hospital Ipswich is a fairly large private facility. It has 60 beds, and five operating theatres. Two of its major operating theatres have laminar flow - this is a special clean air system which reduces the risk of infection during operations. A range of cancer services is offered at Nuffield Hospital Ipswich. The hospital is able to perform surgery to treat both breast and bowel cancer, and can also provide chemotherapy to treat the disease. Both units are BUPA-approved. Palliative care is also available for patients whose illness is terminal.
The hospital does not operate on children under the age of three, but is able to perform procedures for children between three and 12. There is always at least one member of staff with Paediatric Advanced Life Support training on site, so help can be sought quickly in the event of an emergency. Diagnostic services available at the hospital include CT and MRI scans - much better than conventional x-rays at imaging the soft tissue in the body. Bone densitometry scans are also available - these can help to diagnose conditions such as osteoporosis.
