The Guildford Nuffield Hospital provides private medical facilities to the town and the surrounding area of Surrey. It has 54 beds, four of which are for critical care. There are always at least two members of staff on site at any one time with Advanced Life Support training, meaning that help can be sought in the event of an emergency. The hospital offers a full range of services for the treatment of cancer. Surgery can be performed for both breast and bowel cancer, and both units are BUPA-approved. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can also be provided, and palliative care services are available for patients whose illness is terminal. The hospital has six operating theatres - two major theatres with laminar flow, two major theatres without, and one minor theatre. Laminar flow is a clean air system which reduces the risk of infection during operations.
