BMI The Park Hospital

BMI Park Hospital is, with 93 beds, a reasonably large private hospital. It has four major operating theatres, of which two are fitted with laminar flow, a special clean air system that helps reduce the risk of infection. The Hospital also has a well equipped and staffed Intensive Care Unit which is capable of looking after ventilated patients. The ITU is also BUPA approved. As well as offering x-ray, ultrasound, cardiac catheterisation and mammography the hospital also has MRI and CT scans available. These are better than conventional x-rays at imaging soft tissue in the body. The hospital is able to perform surgery on both bowel and breast cancer and both units are BUPA approved. Chemotherapy is also available to treat the disease. For patients whose illness is terminal, palliative care is available.

BMI Park Hospital is able to perform heart bypass operations and offers exercise ECG, coronary angioplasty and cardiac rehabilitation. For children aged 3-12 surgery is available and there is always at least 1 member of staff with Paediatric Advance Life Support training on site. There is a range of physiotherapy services, with a gymnasium and hydrotherapy and also specialist treatment for sports injuries. Acupuncture and aromatherapy are both available.
