BMI The Esperance Hospital is a 50-bed private hospital located in Eastbourne, East Sussex. Four of the beds are for critical care and there is always at least one member of staff on site with Advanced Life Support training. There are three operating theatres at the hospital - two major and one minor. One of the major theatres is equipped with laminar flow. This is a clean air system which reduces the risk of infection during operations. The hospital has a surgical service for breast cancer, and the unit is BUPA-approved. The Esperance is also able to perform mammography, which helps to diagnose breast cancer. CT and MRI scans are not available, but the hospital can perform x-ray and ultrasound. Although the hospital does not operate on children under three years of age, it can undertake surgery on children between the ages of three and twelve.
