The 53-bedded Birmingham Hospital has four operating theatres and provides a range of medical, surgical and diagnostic services. The hospital is able to perform surgery to treat breast and bowel cancer, and the breast care unit is BUPA accredited. As well as treating breast cancer, the hospital is able to run tests to diagnose it - mammography is available at the Birmingham Nuffield. Other diagnostic services at the hospital include MRI and CT scans - better than conventional x-rays at imaging soft tissue in the body - ultrasound and x-rays.

Birmingham Nuffield offers a range of physiotherapy services, including specialist treatment for sports injury. Hydrotherapy is available, and there is a gymnasium on site to help with patient rehabilitation. The hospital is able to perform operations on children between three and 12 years of age, and there is always at least one member of staff on site with Advanced Paediatric Life Support training. This means that help is always available in the event of an emergency.
