Ysbyty Gwynedd (Gwynedd Hospital) is the main site and base of the North West Wales NHS trust. It is situated between the A55 expressway and Bangor in an area called Penrhosgarnedd. The North West Wales NHS Trust provides acute, community and mental health services to the counties of Gwynedd and Anglesey and manages services provided from Llandudno General Hospital and Bryn y Neuadd Hospital in Llanfairfechan.
Acute Services focus on Ysbyty Gwynedd with over 550 beds providing a comprehensive range of acute medical and surgical services, major accident department, intensive care, coronary care, psychiatric, gynaecological and maternity services and a special care baby unit. There is touch-screen computer technology in the main theatres, which allows real-time recording, replacing the previous manual recording method and provides greater information on theatre usage and average times for cases.
