Wrexham Maelor Hospital is a 643-bed acute hospital that provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical specialties, as well as paediatric, maternity and critical care services. The site also includes two Mental Health inpatient units, and a residential drug and alcohol treatment centre.
A new CT scanner and a Magnetic Resonance Scanner were recently brought into operation, so that the previous reliance on a mobile unit is no longer necessary, and the speed at which people can get diagnosed and treated has increased. There is also a new Ambulance Entrance alongside the hospital's main public entrance, allowing more space for the ambulances, as well as an improved control room for the ambulance service staff.
Other new developments include a new Bereavement room, a Porters' base and a hospital office.
