Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust became a Foundation Trust in 2007. Heatherwood Hospital was built in the 1920s and Wexham Park Hospital in the 1960s. The Trust employs over 3,000 staff who deliver quality healthcare services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Trust provides a wide range of hospital services to a large and diverse population of more than 450,000 people, and cover an area which includes Ascot, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Slough, Windsor and south Buckinghamshire.
A range of district general hospital services are delivered from two main sites, Wexham Park Hospital in Slough and Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot. Wexham Park Hospital is a large district general hospital that offers Accident & Emergency (A&E) and critical care facilities, children's services, emergency medicine, and a wide range of surgical specialties. The Hospital has a large and popular maternity unit, which includes a dedicated midwife led unit for low risk births, together with high tech backup, should this be required. Wexham Park Hospital provides emergency care, and Heatherwood hospital carries out the majority of planned operations in the Trust. The hospital is a major provider of day surgery, with a Diagnostics Unit, which provides outpatient, x-ray, CT and MRI scanning and pathology services under one roof.
Outpatient clinics, a Breast Screening and Diagnostic service, a Chest Clinic and other diagnostic tests are provided at King Edward VII Hospital in Windsor. Outpatient services and diagnostic tests are provided at St Mark’s Hospital in Maidenhead.
