University Hospital Lewisham

Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust was formed on 1 August 2010 with the integration of Community Health Services and the Lewisham Hospital Trust. It is one of the first of this kind of integration between a hospital trust and a community health trust in the country. We employ over 3,000 staff, making us one of Lewisham’s largest employers and serve a diverse multicultural local population of around 265,000. Our hospital, University Hospital Lewisham is a campus for the Guy’s King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine and provides a range of medical, surgical and emergency services for our local community. We also provide a range of specialist services in Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Cystic Fibrosis and Ear, Nose and Throat and Vascular Surgery. What’s more, we are one of the few hospitals in London to have a separate Children’s A&E Department – a service that is rated ‘Excellent’ by the Care Quality Commission and parents and carers. Following integration, we also have over 700 staff members working in the community, providing and supporting 26 different service lines in children’s and adult healthcare.
