The Royal Blackburn Hospital provides a full range of hospital services to adults and children. This includes general and specialist medical and surgical services along with a full range of diagnostic (e.g. MRI, CT scanning) and support services. The Royal Blackburn Hospital opened in July 2006.
In addition to the modern facilities within the first stage of the hospital the new building includes state of the art new inpatient facilities, centralised outpatients department, new operating theatres, Urgent Care Centre and Emergency Department.
A new state of the art Helipad has allowed access to the North West Air Ambulance who can now land at the Royal Blackburn Hospital after the opening of a new helipad. Air ambulance crews can treat seriously ill patients at the scene of accidents and fly them to the hospital's dedicated emergency department in just minutes.
