Leighton Hospital

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) is the organisation which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, the Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford.

In 2005, we opened a state-of-the-art Treatment Centre on site at Leighton Hospital, which provides day case services ranging from bowel cancer screening to cataract operations.

The Trust also provides cancer services from its Macmillan Cancer Centre, also on site at Leighton Hospital, which was opened in 2008. In March 2010, the Centre was awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (QEM) - the first award of its kind within the UK, which recognises site and service excellence within health and social care. The award recognises that those patients who have treatment at the unit are receiving care in a consistently high quality environment.

The Trust was established as an NHS trust in April 1991 and now employs approximately 3,200 staff. These staff work hard to ensure their patients are receiving safe and high quality care. We aim to get it right first time, every time and welcome feedback from those using our services to make improvements where possible.

We provide a comprehensive range of acute, maternity, rehabilitation and child health services to a population of 280,000 living in the areas of Congleton, Crewe, Nantwich, Northwich and Middlewich, although we welcome patients from further afield.

In 2007/8, the Healthcare Commission named us as the trust in England that had achieved the greatest improvement against its Standards for Better Health.

We became the first ever winner of the 'Public Sector Turnaround of the Year Award 2007', presented by the Society of Turnaround Professionals.

On April 1, 2008, we were licensed as an NHS Foundation Trust (FT). 22 Trusts applied in July 2007 - of those 22, we were one of only three to be successful.

If you would like to know more about our Trust or become more involved in influencing the way in which our services are provided, please register to become a Member. Further details are available from the Membership Office on 01270 612365 or by emailing.
