Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust operates from two main sites: Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary. The Trust provides a full range of acute services to the people of Hull and East Yorkshire area. It also provide a number specialist services to North Yorkshire, North and North East Lincolnshire. The Trust has invested significantly in cleaning in the last five years and has among the lowest infection rates in the UK. The Hull Royal Infirmary site has 709 beds and is the main centre for emergency work at the Trust. The A&E department sees around 120,000 people each year with the Trust meeting the 4-hour target every year since it was introduced. The Trust is a major partner in the Hull York Medical School (HYMS). The school saw its first doctors graduate in 2008 and it is helping the organisation to attract physicians of the highest calibre to this region. The site has seen a £6m Eye Hospital and £35m Women and Children's hospital open in the last five years and additional investment is now being spent on ward upgrades. This has seen four wards already brought up to the highest standards of privacy and dignity and the Trust is being hailed as a national example of best practice as a result. Hull Royal Infirmary has low rates of infections and continually meets the highest standards of cleanliness.
