GOSH was the first hospital in the UK dedicated to children and, since it opened in 1852, has grown to have around 380 beds on more than 30 wards. GOSH has over 200,000 patient visits each year. GOSH has over 3,000 members of staff including approximately 350 Consultants.
GOSH is a national centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's healthcare. We currently deliver the widest range of specialities of any children's hospital in the UK. GOSH has the largest paediatric intensive care provision in England and has been commissioned by the National Commissioning Group (NCG) for more than 15 specialist services.
In addition to the specialist work done at the main, Great Ormond Street, site, GOSH also provides Children's Community Services in Haringey and general paediatric services at the North Middlesex University Hospital.
Our mission is to provide world-class clinical care and training, pioneering new research and treatments, in partnership with others for the benefit of children in the UK and worldwide. As part of efforts to achieve this, GOSH has joined with 3 other NHS Trusts and UCL to form UCL Partners (UCLP) - one of the first Academic Health Science Partnerships in the UK, and the largest in Europe. GOSH has got the biggest research facility for any paediatric Trust in the UK.
