Antrim Hospital is part of United Hospitals Group HSS Trust. Having gained £7m in funding, a new 24-bed chemotherapy unit and new CT scanning equipment have recently been installed to help improve patient facilities at the hospital.
Attendance at the Accident and Emergency Department continues to grow, with an increase of 3.6 per cent in patients year on year. Future plans to increase the bed capacity with the provision of extra staff will help address this situation. To help reduce the waiting lists a number of initiatives have been undertaken, including the introduction of Ultrasound Scanning and a mobile CT scanner.
Radiology Services continue to be provided, with the number of patients attending for X-rays continuing to increase. Planning is therefore underway for a substantial building development to house a new MRI service.
