At Christchurch Hospital the stroke rehabilitation unit is known nationally for its work with stroke patients. It achieved Beacon Status in 2000 and in 2005 received PDU (Practice Development Unit) accreditation. Recently at the Royal Bournemouth, a new state-of-the-art cardiac unit has opened which has expanded capacity for coronary angiography and provided two new services - coronary angioplasty and electrophysiology. The hospital also has a state-of-the-art scanner suite with four scanners providing faster diagnosis and treatment for patients with a wide range of diseases.
