The Trust, known as Leicester Hospitals, is rated excellent for the quality of services by the Healthcare Commission, putting them top of the league for large acute teaching trusts in the country.

Liverpool Women's Hospital, Liverpool: Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust was founded on 1st April 2005 under the Health and Social Care (Community Standards) Act 2003. Operating in its former guise as Liverpool Women's Hospital NHS Trust, the organisation had been created in 1995 when all services for women and babies in Liverpool came together under one roof in a state of the art building in the heart of Toxteth. In 2000 the Trust took over the Aintree Centre for Women's Health, which provides services to the women of north Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley and in so doing became the largest women's hospital in Europe.
