Professional profile

I have a broad practice in clinical nephrology, with a particualr interest in transplantation medicine. I am also the clinical lead of the histocompatibility and immunogentics (tissue typing) laboratory. My research interest is the mechanism of rejection of transplanted tissue and attitudes to organ donation. I am the co-author or co-editor of three books and numerous clinical and scientific articles. I have a major role in teaching and took the lead in developing Imperial Colelge's new Graduate-Entry MB BS Programme.

Hospital and Trust activities

I am head of education in the Circulation and Renal Sciences Clinicla Programme Group of the Imperial College Academic Health Sciences Centre.

Other contributions to the NHS

I sit on the Kidney Advisory Group of the Organ Donation and Transplantation Directorate of NHS Blood and Transplant and was involved in restructuring the national deceased donor kidney allocation scheme.
