Professional profile
I am a consultant ENT surgeon at Mayday Hospital and St Georges Hospital. My areas of special interest are voice problems and snoring. I run a multidisciplinary voice clinic at St Georges providing a diagnostic and treatment service for professional voice users of all types. This facility is also available for private patients on alternate Thursday evenings. I work with a neurologist who has a special interest in dystonias. Together we have set up a botox injection clinic for patients with spasmodic dysphonia and other neurological problems of the larynx. Over the last 31/2 years I have been running a snoring clinic at Mayday Hospital. I have now also started a private clinic at Shirley Oaks Hospital. We provide a full diagnostic and treatment service for patients with snoring and sleep apnoea. One innovation is to provide a local anaesthetic procedure called a somnoplasty. This stiffens the soft palate and in some cases can be used to treat snoring. This is available in both clinics and it is often possible to perform the procedure immediately without putting the patient on a waiting list.
