Professional profile

I trained at St Thomas' Hospital Medical School in London and graduated in 1993. Whilst an undergraduate, I also took a intercalated BSc in Anatomy (First Class Honours).

Following graduation, I did Basic Surgical Training in London and Oxford and then undertook Higher Surgical Training in general surgery in the North West Thames region. During training, I specialised in colorectal surgery. I spent two years as a research fellow at St Mark's Hospital in London working in the Departments of Physiology and Surgery, culminating in the award of an MD degree.

I was appointed as Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford in November 2005.

I have a particular interest in surgery of the colon, rectum and anus and treat the following conditions: anal disorders (including piles, anal fissure, anal fistula and pilonidal sinus); colorectal cancer; polyps; diverticular disease; Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis; faecal incontinence; rectal prolapse; hernias; gall stones.
