Andrew Brooksbank is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he specialises in shoulder surgery. This gives him a wide exposure to all aspects of shoulder pathology from dealing with fractures and rotator cuff injuries to instability and arthritis of the shoulder. Andrew receives tertiary referrals from other surgeons across Scotland for management of complex shoulder problems.
He undertook specialist Fellowship training in shoulder surgery in Christchurch, New Zealand and Exeter, UK.
In New Zealand he had the opportunity to work alongside Surgeons treating professional athletes on a regular basis gaining expertise in complex arthroscopic shoulder reconstructions. In Exeter he worked with one of Britain's leading shoulder surgeons with areas of interest of frozen shoulder, rotator cuff repair and shoulder replacement surgery.
His main areas of interest are traumatic shoulder injuries and their complex reconstruction utilising arthroscopic surgery, treating both contact and overhead athletes.
Through his association with the Glasgow Sports Surgery Service (GSSS), Andrew is involved in the education of physiotherapists and healthcare professionals with an interest in sports injuries in addition to lecturing to Masters and undergraduate students at Glasgow University's Department of Sports Medicine. Andrew has also been intregral in developing the Glasgow Sport Surgery Service website www.gsss.co.uk. Which provides an excellent resource for patients and health professionals alike.
