Professional profile
I completed my specialist Ophthalmic training in the UK in 1995 having worked in St George's Hospital, London and Hereford hospitals in the West Midlands.
Prior to coming to the UK I completed my post graduation in ophthalmology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India and was awarded an MD in Ophthalmology. I also completed a short fellowship in Oculoplastics at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, USA, prior to taking up the post of Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
My specialist interests are small incision cataract surgery, diabetic eye diseases, and medical retinal conditions including macular degeneration and lachrymal disorders and laser treatment for watering eyes. I have been actively involved in the Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service which is successfully running on All Wales basis since 2003. I have been instrumental in setting up a new procedure for the treatment of watery eyes (Laser DCR) with the help of lasers along with my ENT colleague.
I run a specialist diabetes and uveitis clinic once a week. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the British Medical Association.
