Professional profile
I am a Consultant Physician and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust in London. Prior to this I was a Consultant Endocrinologist at the North Middlesex Hospital NHS Trust. My training in general medicine and endocrinology was completed at posts in the West Midlands, North East England and North Staffordshire. My NHS post includes clinical responsibilities for the development of endocrinology and diabetes services at the Royal Free Hospital. My main area of expertise is thyroid disease but my clinical practice includes all aspects of diabetes and endocrinology. I have published on various aspects of thyroid disease and have served on the Executive Committee of the British Thyroid Association. Much of my time is spent in teaching and lecturing. I also undertake medico-legal work within my specialty. I was Clinical Director Medical Specialties Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust 2004-6. I currently lead on Thyroid Cancer for North Central London and am Deputy Chair of the Trust Drugs and Therapeutics Committee.
