I am a General adult cardiologist serving the full range of cardiology patients. My specialist training is in coronary intervention (angioplasty and stenting). I see patients with all common cardiac complaints including: chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and dizziness, referral for cardiovascular risk assessment, hypertension and elevated cholesterol levels. More recently I have developed a further interest in the perioperative assessment of patients using cardiopulmonary exercise testing
Hospital and Trust activities
I am department lead for coronary disease responsible for the rapid access chest pain clinic. Following the opening of on-site cardiac catheterisation facilities at The Whittington, ure all patients have access to coronary angiography within the national six weeks target, streamlining the referral of patients for percutaneous intervention at UCLH. I run a perioperative assessment clinic for patients awaiting surgery in order to assess their fitness for surgery. I have a particular interst in the bariatrics, using cardiopulmonary exercise testing to gauge operative risk.

Research interests
My background in clinical research is in the field of cardiovascular genetics. I have published on a cohort of patients following routine coronary bypass surgery describing the effect of common genetic variants on the post-operative inflammatory response.
My current clinical research is as co-investigator in two studies (working with the Institute of Human Health and Performance, Departments of Medicine and Haematology) looking at the role of cardiopulmonary exercise testing in patients with Thalassaemia major and Sickle cell disease.
