Professional profile

Dr David E Ward qualified at Guy's Hospital in 1971. He completed his cardiology training at St Bartholomew's Hospital (MD 1981) and Brompton Hospital and was appointed consultant in cardiology at St George's Hospital in 1986 where he founded the Cardiac Electrophysiology service which now has an international reputation. His main interests have been in clinical arrhythmology, cardiac electrophysiology and ablation techniques.He was the lead co-author of the first UK textbook on clinical cardiac electrophysiology (Edward Arnold 1987). He has served on the councils of the British Cardiac Society and the British Pacing and Electrophysiology Group now called Heart Rhythm UK
