Professional profile

I was appointed as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist to the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust in 1998.
I am actively involved in the post-graduate training of hospital doctors and have been the Training Programme Director for the Oxford region 2005-2011
I am the vice-chair of the Specialty Advisory Committee for Gastroenterology within JRCPTB which reports to The GMC.
I am on the examining board for the UK specialist board exam in Gastroenterology / hepatology.

Hospital and Trust activities

Since 2010 I have been undertaking the role of Bowel Cancer Screening Practitioner undertaking colonoscopy in patients identified as needing further investigation by the BCSP programme.

Other contributions to the NHS

I sit on the committee for The Joint Advisory Group on GI endoscopy (JAG) which ensures the quality and safety of patient care and defines/maintains standards by which endoscopy is practised in the UK.

Research interests

I am interested in hospital based audit.
My full time research interest lay in the pathophysiology of acute liver failure and the management of patients with acute liver disease.

When not practising medicine I am a keen tennis player. I represent The Warwick Boat Club and am currently the Winter 1st team captain.
I enjoy all active sports including cycling, sailing, and skiing.
